  1. Once again you're putting a country on the map! Posted 9 years ago
    1. And what a country it is! I highly recommend it, especially the South in September after the monsoon. It looks just like East Africa (and indeed quite a few of the avifauna is shared) Posted 9 years ago
      1. I'm completely ignorant about the country, thank you for sharing its wildlife and opening our mind to it. What are your thoughts on safety? A lot of tourists avoid the ME currently, for obvious reasons. Posted 9 years ago
        1. No it's really a haven of peace (though in all fairness the Gulf countries are fine as well, just a lot less appealing). We drove all around the place, camped in the desert, actually drove right up to the Yemeni problem, never even felt faintly worried. The whole northern coastal strip around Muscat is an incredibly depressing megalopolis, but the remote areas, ie the southern mountains of Dhofar, the interior desert, and the Musandam peninsula in the very north are all wonderful. 2. My other question is when you're going to Russia?

            1. Wow, that does need to be filled! Well I saw Russia once, from the Finnish side of the border, and I'd love to get to Lake Baikal, but I'd say it's not going to happen any time soon. Posted 9 years ago
              1. Hehe, you're probably the most traveled person on the site already. Posted 9 years ago
