The Lion Tailed macaques feed primarily on the indigenous fruits. They have to compete with the local troupes of Rhesus macaques. We observed the LTMs being chased away by the R macaques. We were surprised to see the LTMs backing off instead of fighting back. May be they wanted to be peace!

The lion-tailed macaque, or the wanderoo, is an Old World monkey endemic to the Western Ghats of South India.
