Territorial Tree Pipit I know it&#039;s far away but even this photo is cropped already. I came across this bird I did not know and had no time to switch lenzes. Based on the patterns on his chest and with the help of a bird guide app I was able to find out that this is a Tree Pipit. <br />

  1. Had to correct myself. I thought this was a Woodlark, but it's a Tree Pipit instead. Posted 13 years ago
  2. A birdID app, never thought of it. Comes in handy walking the ID tree! So nice that your eye to nature has changed in that you see a bird you don't recognise and just want to eternalise it on JD. Posted 13 years ago
    1. I'm definitely in "collection" mode now as I wander through nature, always looking for a specie not yet captured, and that enforces learning.

By the way, the app is called "Vogels in Nederland", available on iOS, not sure about Android. It has a list of pretty much all bird species in the Netherlands with clear photo, descriptions and even audio. I use it quite a lot.

  3. I am on iPad mode right now, so in a minute I'll be enriched with new species wisdom;) yeah funny mode that is, as I walk my dog almost every early morning I see this 'ekster' (too lazy to look it up right now, I do have to install that app after saving the log) with a rising sun and those amazing black and white banded wings stretched in a temporal updraft. Maybe one day soon.. Posted 13 years ago
    1. I looked up the "ekster" for you:

I find them hard to photograph up close, they're quite shy. Yet only close you see the blue-ish look instead of black.

  4. There are also a bunch of iPhone apps (no iPad) for IDing birds, butterlfies, reptiles, fish etc. hmm;) gotta pay though. Not for now I guess. Have installed to bird ID App. Thx for the hint! Posted 13 years ago

Tree Pipit, "Anthus trivialis", is a small passerine bird which breeds across most of Europe and temperate western and central Asia. It is a long-distance migrant moving in winter to Africa and southern Asia.
