Do you have a binomial or trinomial name for your species request? Is "elegant slider turtle" the same as the red-eared slider (a synonym), or is it perhaps a sub species? Posted 9 years ago

      You see, this one is difficult, because the markings on the skin match up in all ways with the red-eared slider... But the shell is different. I saw a couple of images for turtles in my area tagged with "elegant slider turtle" online... Then I found out that they are parts of the same grouping and that elegant sliders have the markings of a red-eared slider, but a shell like this one here... So I don't really know any specifics on this one. Posted 9 years ago

The red-eared slider (Trachemys scripta elegans), also known as the red-eared terrapin, red-eared slider turtle, red-eared turtle, slider turtle, and water slider turtle, is a semiaquatic turtle belonging to the family Emydidae. It is a subspecies of the pond slider. It is the most popular pet turtle in the United States and is also popular as a pet across the rest of the world, and is the most invasive turtle.
