
Greater Yellow Rattle - Rhinanthus angustifolius

Orobancheaceae. It is another annual hemiparasitic herb that is now classified as Orobancheacea member. According to the belgian files it is a rare species actually under threat. Its flowers look like small budgies heads.

''Rhinanthus angustifolius'' or Greater Yellow-rattle is a Lamiales plant species of the genus ''Rhinanthus''. It is an annual wildflower native to temperate grasslands in much of Europe, and north and central Western Asia. The yellow flowers are mostly visited by bumblebees.

According ti ITIS and the USDA Rhinanthus major is the accepted name and Rhinanthus alectorolophus is the synonym. It is also the case in this key to the species introduced in America.
