  1. I think this is more likely Rhinanthus angustifolius. Rhinanthus alectorolophus is supposed to have long white hairs on the calyx and no black spots on the stem. It is confusing because in different sources Rhinanthus major is listed as a synonym for both these species. Do you have a photo of the leaves?
    According ti ITIS and the USDA Rhinanthus major is the accepted name and Rhinanthus alectorolophus is the synonym. It is also the case in this key to the species introduced in America.

      I see in some links that they describe R. angustifolius in the area of Doode Bemde :-)

''Rhinanthus angustifolius'' or Greater Yellow-rattle is a Lamiales plant species of the genus ''Rhinanthus''. It is an annual wildflower native to temperate grasslands in much of Europe, and north and central Western Asia. The yellow flowers are mostly visited by bumblebees.
