        1. I read on the internet that this type of butterfly flies around from February till October. It lives for about 3 weeks. In this period (Febr - Oct) there will be 2 to 3 generations per year. I think it was a lucky catch (with my camera), because I haven't seen this butterfly very often. The speckled wood is a butterfly found in and on the borders of woodland areas throughout much of the Palearctic realm. The species is subdivided into multiple subspecies, including "Pararge aegeria aegeria", "Pararge aegeria tircis", "Pararge aegeria oblita", and "Pararge aegeria insula".
