  1. Nice to see some birds from your beautiful home country :) Posted 9 years ago
    1. I going to South and the Northeast in the next couple of months, so I'll get to see many new ones! I'm hoping to win the contest so I can use to money to buy more books to identify them, because mine is only of the species in the Southeast. Posted 9 years ago
      1. I'll make you a deal. In case you do not win any of the contest prizes, I'll pay for at least one of your new books if you post the species found on your new trip here, and also tell your biologist friends about JungleDragon :)

        How about that?

        1. Sounds like a great deal! =D I'm still trying, though! It's just really hard because I have no time at the moment, as I live for my new travels on Tuesday.
I'm going to try and find a book with all the bird species in the country; it'd be a lot easier than having many different ones!

        2. How do you want to do this? I've been in a new place for 5 days, now, and I'm dying to get a book to identify the ones I've been seeing, because the ones they have here are very old, don't actually include this state, or don't show the distribution, so not very helpful. =P Posted 9 years ago
          1. Well, which book would you want? Did you search online for a book that is useful to you? Posted 9 years ago
            1. I replied twice!! I don't know why my comments keep disappearing...

I did, but I don't like to buy this kind of book without having seen it in person, because it might not be good... I did just find one that is 80% off, so the price is ridiculous (R$15.00, which is less than U$5.00), but I don't know if it's any good... it does have 460 pages, though... check it out: http://www.saraiva.com.br/aves-do-brasil-guia-pratico-2886157.html

              1. Ok, once you have settled on a book, let me know :) Posted 9 years ago
                1. I did find one that seems perfect, but it's probably very expensive (it's out of stock everywhere)... I need a price limit, even though I think this will be the best option. Posted 9 years ago
                  1. Which one is the perfect one? Just send me the link please. Posted 9 years ago
                    1. I went to a book store on Friday, to try and check out the really cheap one, but unfortunately it was out of stock on that particular store. I only found one called "A field guide to the birds of Brazil", which was R$252.90. I did find out the price of the one that seems to be the perfect one (http://www.saraiva.com.br/avifauna-brasileira-guia-de-campo-avis-brasilis-4-ed-2014-7459877.html): R$136, so around U$30... the problem is that it's out of stock everywhere!
So here's what I'm thinking, why don't we try the ridiculously cheap one, that actually seems to be good (I mean, there are 460 pages!), and you can get me another one to identify a different group of animals, such as mammals, or reptiles, or amphibians, or even fish, or invertebrates... what do you think?

                      1. 30 USD is fine for me if that you consider that the perfect one. Why won't we make this simpler, I'll grant you USD 50 and you just buy the books you think you want? Please message me privately for the details. Posted 9 years ago
                        1. The problem is that it can't be found anywhere! But now the really cheap one is out of stock as well, so I guess I'll wait until I'm back from my trip (Or maybe I'm find some there)... I'll keep you posted!
                          Works for me! =)
