  2. Dendrobium thrysiflorum [syn. Callista thyrsiflora] produces these white flowers with solid yellow lip. It is widely distributed in Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam to south-eastern Yunnan. I have also seen the name "Fried egg orchid" used for this species.

    Dendrobium densiflorum [syn. Callista densiflora] has pure yellow flowers with a deeper orange-yellow lip. The growth habits of both species are similar, so they can be confused. However, the two species can be distinguished when out of bloom.

Plicatol B is a phenanthrene that can be isolated from the orchid.
