Male American Goldfinch (in breeding season)
Male American Goldfinch eating at a feeder. I love the large bokeh in this picture! I think the greens of the bokeh (made by sunlight shining through plants) and the bright yellow of the bird compliment each other very nicely!
The American goldfinch, also known as the eastern goldfinch or "lightning bird," is a small North American bird in the finch family. It is migratory, ranging from mid-Alberta to North Carolina during the breeding season, and from just south of the Canadian border to Mexico during the winter.
