Found in North Africa (from Morocco to Egypt) in Atlantic archipelagos (Azores, Madeira and Canary Islands), in Southern Europe (France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, former Yugoslavia, Greece) and Middle-East (Israel, Lebanon, Turkey, Syria).<br />

"Lagurus ovatus" is a species of flowering plant in the grass family Poaceae, native to the Mediterranean coast of southern Europe and naturalised elsewhere. It is also grown as an ornamental plant for its attractive flower panicles. It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
