Glandular hairy perennial herb; stems to 30cm, sometimes somewhat woody at base, prostrate or ascending, much branched and often abruptly bent at the nodes. Leaves (4-)6-10(-12) by (0.5-)1-2(-2.5)mm, elliptical to linear, with 1 prominent vein beneath. Stipules absent. Flowers axillary and in terminal cymes; flower stalks 1.5-6 times as long as sepals. Sepals 3-4mm, oblong-ovate, usually obtuse, appearing veinless, with a wide dry and membranous margin; petals and capsule about equalling sepals. Seeds 0.5-0.8mm, the margin slightly wrinkled.
Habitat: South of Europe and North Africa: Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Sardinia. It shows up in disturbed lands, generally close to the sea.
