Super fast ant! These ants can be found on sandy/dusty areas and aren&#039;t bothered by the heat it seems. They have long legs to keep their body away from the hot ground and enable them to run fast. They also point their abdomen up towards the sky - not sure if this is to do with tempereture regulation or another reason.<br />

  1. I saw some related species of this desert ant in a BBC series, very interesting:



    I think it is likely that pointing the abdomen to the sky is to minimize their surface area, I know dragonflies do the same thing on extremely hot days.
