Tapinoma nigerrimum in a leaf

Taken late afternoon - this ant species seemed quite skittish and wouldn't stop moving around. Made taking the shot quite difficult as it kept hiding in the foliage.

  1. I don't think I've ever captured a sharp ant shot due to their movement, nicely done! Posted 9 years ago
    1. Thanks Ferdy, I've noticed that their movements are definitely species specific. For example, Messor Barbarus are generally quite slow moving (compared to species such as Cataglyphis and the above species). They also do seem to stop fairly frequently when foraging which does give the opportunity to get a semi decent shot. Posted 9 years ago
