Lioness resting on a tree trunk in Nairobi Animal Orphanage
It was about 6pm in the evening, when I took this photo at the Nairobi National Orphanage in Nairobi National Park. The other lions were beginning to roar but this one was not restless. It just perched itself on this tree trunk to watch the visitors there.

The lion is one of the five big cats in the genus "Panthera" and a member of the family Felidae. The commonly used term African lion collectively denotes the several subspecies found in Africa. With some males exceeding 250 kg in weight, it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger.
