  1. I presume this was taken in Zimbabwe since it's included in "Exploring Zimbabwe". That would make this a Kirk's Rock Agama (Agama kirkii) rather than the similar West African Rock Agama (Agama africana). Posted 9 years ago

Kirk's Rock Agama is a medium-sized diurnal lizard native to eastern sub-Saharan Africa in at least the countries Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Breeding males sport bright red heads and dark blue bodies, with a pronounced dorsal crest that is highest on the neck.
