  1. How's the count going on Paropsines? You must have covered a good percentage of them by now. Posted 9 years ago
    1. Paropsisterna; has 122 recorded species. I know 112 by image but about 20 of these I cannot name Of these, 73 are my own images. I am starting some dissections. This is likely to split some species.
There remain 30 official species names which I have no matches for and they will allocate to those 20 where possible (types are in Europe, somewhere) and ten will become nom. dubius.
Paropsis; has 72 species all sorted by Gunter. I have photographed 38 of them. I am missing only three Victorian ones. Half of the rest are in WA which has isolated biology. I know them all because of his paper but cannot share some of the names before it is published. Albae missed the deadline. There are two to be discovered at Mildura and Barossa Valley (Hmm, might visit there) but data is insufficient for a description and they may be extinct. I am not taking Peltoschema or Calomela seriously. Trachymela is very difficult and needs a trained researcher imo.

      1. Very impressive indeed. I would have guessed about a third of that.
Barossa does sound attractive. I haven't been there.
I don't suppose Dicranosterna are on the hit list. (only joking)
It sounds like there will be a P.lagerweyii some time or other anyway.

        1. Dicranosterna are Calomela on steroids. Both are acacia feeders with globose larvae. There are 36 in Australia but two in Victoria so far as I know. There should be more but I cannot find them. Posted 9 years ago
      1. We are getting there.
The following entry mysteriously appears in the paropsis gallery but belongs in Paropsisterna.
