Nocturnal lemur, Ankarafantsika, Madagascar
We did a one hour night tour just outside the Ankarafantsika, since night tours in national parks are prohibited in Madagascar. We spotted the reflection of some lemur eyes in the far distance:
Based on only those tiny eyes in the pitch dark I still managed to get the above shot. It's kind of ridiculous to carry a 400mm at night, but my speed light at maximum power was able to flood the forest with light. Not a thing to overuse, as it obviously disturbs wildlife.
Anyway, regarding species, our guide suggested the mongoose lemur, but it looks way different. I'm thinking it may be a Milne-Edwards' sportive lemur, but I'll first verify it with an expert.
The Milne-Edwards' sportive lemur, or Milne-Edwards' weasel lemur, is a species of lemur in the Lepilemuridae family. It is endemic to Madagascar. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forests. It is threatened by habitat loss.
