Sun bird investigating curled up leaf, Ankarafantsika, Madagascar This nervous sun bird spend minutes messing with this curled up leaf. I'm not sure what the behavior means. Nest? Food? My guess is that this is a Souimanga sunbird, since Madagascar has only a few species of sun birds, and this one matches closely, visually that is. The souimanga sunbird is a small passerine bird of the sunbird family, Nectariniidae. It is native to the islands of the western Indian Ocean where it occurs on Madagascar, the Aldabra Group and the Glorioso Islands.
