The Endangered Nilgiri Tahr
The Nilgiri is the name given to a range of mountains spread across the borders among the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala, and is hope to some truly amazing and endangered species... the Tahr is just one of them. I've never been so excited to see a goat before now! :)
They are unfortunately endangered, making the IUCN red list! : http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/9917/0

The Nilgiri tahr known locally as the Nilgiri ibex or simply ibex, is an ungulate that is endemic to the Nilgiri Hills and the southern portion of the Western Ghats in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala in southern India. It is the state animal of Tamil Nadu. Despite its local name, it is more closely related to the sheep of the ''Ovis'' genus than the ibex and wild goats of the ''Capra'' genus.

I can't wait to get back there again. My spouse is from Kodaikanal and my last visit was before developing an interest in wildlife.
