Headshot of Desert Milleped I will post some full body shots of these guys since this is the first image. I couldn't get this one to sit still long enough to capture the full length.
Facts:
There are two types of centipedes living in the Sonoran Desert. One is the giant desert centipede (Scolopendra heros), and the other is the common desert centipede (Scolopendra polymorpha). They both can be identified by their flattened body made of many segments. There is one pair of legs for each segment except for the first and last segments. One pair of antennae are located on the head. The giant centipede has an orange body with a black head and tail. The common centipede is tan and brown. 1. Nice intro of a great endemic, looking forward to the rest of it :) Posted 9 years ago
  2. Centipedes and millipedes are such difficult subjects; they are down on the ground and never seem to stop moving.

The top shot is easy enough, good for focus and good for identification. But for a special image, you have to get down and dirty. Good job.

''Scolopendra polymorpha'', the common desert centipede, tiger centipede, banded desert centipede, or Sonoran Desert centipede, is indigenous to the Southwestern United States and northern Mexico, north to the Pacific coast. It inhabits dry grasslands, forest, and desert; in these habitats, the centipedes generally take up residence under rocks, though they have been observed creating burrows in suitable environments and inside rotting logs. Their bodies generally reaches 4–7 in in length. Coloration.. more
