A mother's love The baby isn't visible on this photo, which exactly was this mother's point. I love these lemurs with their insanely long tails and bright orange eyes. If life allows us, we'll be seeing them in the wild in Madagascar this year. Fingers crossed. The ring-tailed lemur is a large strepsirrhine primate and the most recognized lemur due to its long, black and white ringed tail. It belongs to Lemuridae, one of five lemur families, and is the only member of the "Lemur" genus. Like all lemurs it is endemic to the island of Madagascar and endangered.
