Paropsisterna lignea (with Paropsisterna_sp112)
Paropsisterna lignea (lignea in latin refers to wooden). This beetle is common alpine and quite variable. It may be without the pronotal spots. It might be without lateral stripes. It might be without alternate interstitial coloring.
The large beetle is undetermined, undescribed as far as I can tell. The head bears deep grooves. The antennomeres are fine. The interstices are without puncturations, the striate puncturations are strongly asymmetrical (zigzag). These two paropsine beetles, upon closer inspection are not even similar.
Paropsisterna lignea is very variable being brown, yellow or red, with ten lines, alternately filled or entirely unmarked. The pronotum sometimes has three dots.
