Papilio Demoleus - Common Lime
Another stunning pap. I don’t get to see this one very often, but judging by the number of images in my collection, it is a bit easier to get close to than the others.
There are several sub species of this fine butterfly, of which I seem to have two. This, the more colourful version, and a yellow version to follow another day.
Location is Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Alongside a stream and paddy fields.
''Papilio demoleus'' is a common and widespread swallowtail butterfly. The butterfly is also known as the lime butterfly, lemon butterfly, lime swallowtail, and chequered swallowtail. These common names refer to their host plants, which are usually citrus species such as the cultivated lime. Unlike most swallowtail butterflies, it does not have a prominent tail.
