Graphium Doson evemonides - Common Jay
Common Jay, well that’s a laugh. In three years, this was the only photo opportunity I managed. Several sightings, but this elusive butterfly prefers the tree canopies and very rarely settles within camera range. This is true for most paps.
Location is Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Alongside a stream and paddy fields.
The Common Jay is a black, tropical papilionid butterfly with pale blue semi-transparent central wing bands that are formed by large spots. There is a marginal series of smaller spots. The underside of wings is brown with markings similar to upperside but whitish in color. The sexes look alike.
