David and Goliath III Not the clearest of images but that wasn't the objective. At dusk this mockingbird was showing some protective behavior that makes the image interesting. Evidently there was some mockingbird nest protection going on that incited some pretty bold attacks by this seemingly mismatched bout. This is 3 of 3 I am going to post. The aggression went on for about 5 minutes until Mr. Goliath flew off after the mockingbird repeatedly pounded the owl in the head and back.   1. Really awesome that you captured this behavior. Even in my modest small garden I see birds making a 180 degree in attitude once they are nesting. Posted 9 years ago

The northern mockingbird is the only mockingbird commonly found in North America. This bird is mainly a permanent resident, but northern birds may move south during harsh weather.
