
David and Goliath
Not the clearest of images but the objective was to get the shot. At dusk this mockingbird was showing some protective behavior that makes the image interesting. Evidently there was some mockingbird nest protection going on that incited some pretty bold attacks by this seemingly mismatched bout. This is 1 of 3 I am going to post. The aggression went on for about 5 minutes until Mr. Goliath flew off after the mockingbird repeatedly pounded the owl in the head and back.

The northern mockingbird is the only mockingbird commonly found in North America. This bird is mainly a permanent resident, but northern birds may move south during harsh weather.
