Leptidea sinapis. The top rainbow flare was given by a beam of light that accidentally entered between the lens and my old extension ring. I forgot to put duck tape between both. (Un)fortunately I've just bought a new set of extension rings. Maybe I'll keep the old ones, just in case ;)

  1. This looks very like a butterfly I find here in Indonesia, the Psyche. It is the same family of Leptosia. A real pain to photograph, always on the move, never quite landing.

    1. Interesting! Leptidea sinapis I would say that is much more cooperative, especially when feeding, their flight is also very characteristic, flying at very low altitude, in a gentle straight line pattern. Cheers* Posted 9 years ago
      1. The psyche flight is very lumpy and laborious, giving the impression of almost stalling. Just when you are thinking it is going to land, off it goes again. I have determinedly followed these butterflies for 30 metres with nothing to show. Yes, low level scrub is the target. I will post some up today.
