The view from the top - Sauer's Mountain While I tend to focus on the details here, the views are great too! This was actually just a bit down from the actual peak. The top has been fairly well tramped down and a bit devoid of vegetation, so the foreground was better a bit down the hill. This particular hike is only possible because Mr. Sauer is generous enough to allow people to park and cross through his property to reach the national forest lands on the hill above. "Balsamorhiza sagittata" is a North American species of flowering plant in the sunflower tribe of the aster family known by the common name arrowleaf balsamroot. It is widespread across western Canada and much of the western United States.
