Band of Bison This was a really cold day to be in Yellowstone. We arrived with temperatures of 4 degrees F and the animals were out! I find them fascinating to watch in the winter. The power they have is incredible and the strength they find to fight through the cold winters is amazing. Taken in Lamar Valley. American bison,Bison bison Click/tap to enlarge

The American bison is a North American species of bison that once roamed the grasslands of North America in massive herds. Their range once roughly comprised a triangle between the Great Bear Lake in Canada's far northwest, south to the Mexican states of Durango and Nuevo León, and east along the western boundary of the Appalachian Mountains.
