Bothrogonia addita – Leafhopper Colorful and easy to spot on the green of the scrubland, but difficult to get near for the shot. Sometimes I think I should just get me a net, and put them in the fridge for 5 minutes – but no, where’s the challenge in that. David Baily doesn’t put the kids in the fridge to stop them fidgeting, he is a professional.
One thing that I have learned in three years of snapping bugs. They live lives also, and they have been doing it a lot longer than humans. The reason that they don’t have massive brains and build brick houses, is that they reached evolutionary perfection and did not need the massive brain. This is a perfection that the human genus will never achieve.
Bothrogonia addita – Leafhopper

Colorful and easy to spot on the green of the scrubland, but difficult to get near for the shot.

  1. Glad you're doing things the ethical way, Dave! And I agree that success as a species is a matter of perspective. Ants and grass are in many ways more successful than us, depending on which measuring stick you use. Us humans of course use a measuring stick that fits us and is unique to us, and therefore will always win :) Posted 9 years ago
    1. Ha! yes, a bit like a millipede saying, "Humans are so basic, with only two legs!"

I have always been fascinated by evolution, especially after reading Wallace.

      1. Intelligence can also be seen as a defense mechanism that got out of hand. And in the way things are currently going, may achieve the actual opposite. Posted 9 years ago
        1. I need to write an article on my thoughts on this subject :)
