Rhynchium haemorrhoidale - potter wasp
This is a very attractive, yet dangerous looking wasp. It made me take a couple of steps back the first time I saw it. I soon learned that it is completely non-aggressive, and is only interested in finding its next grub, to enclose in a living tomb, primed with an egg.
I don’t see this one very often, maybe once a year, but easy to approach.
Location is Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Alongside a stream and paddy fields.
