Mongoose - Herpestes javanicus I thought I had managed to grab another otter shot, same story, just managed to get one good shot and a couple more as it vanished down the stream bank.<br />

Back at the lab, I loaded up the images and discovered that it wasn&rsquo;t that cute otter, but something different this time. Well, would you believe it!<br />

Location is Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Alongside a stream and paddy fields.

  2. Yes. Not very cute, looks dangerous.

    I saw a black mongoose, by a lake, in Northwich, England. Definitely not native.

The small Asian mongoose is a species of mongoose found in the wild in South and Southeast Asia. It has also been introduced to Hawaii, Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, Lesser Antilles, Belize, Honduras, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia, Suriname, Venezuela, Guyana and Mafia Island. The western subspecies group is sometimes treated as a separate species, the Indian mongoose or small Indian mongoose .
