1. Male.
Phytomia chrysopyga I have posted this on other sites, but it was so difficult to find an ID, that I think it deserves a place on this site. I am posting two images, a male with the eyes touching, and this female with the eyes separated. In three years, I only managed to get close enough to capture images three times.
Location is Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Bushes alongside a stream and paddy fields.
2. Nice one, Dave. Do you use the Nikkor 105 Micro lens? Posted 9 years ago
    1. Thanks. It is the SIGMA 105MM DG MACRO HSM. Not bad, but there is quite a quality drop off if you wander far from f8. I did an image test, and it was quite depressing!

The auto-focus is useless on bugs, and is permanently switched off. I prefer to choose the focus point, as it is often as fine as a particular part of the eye or leg.

The focus tracking feature does not work on dragons in flight, or maybe it is just not fast enough. I am forced to pre-focus.

The VR stabilizing feature works well. When I download my pics, I can tell when I had accidentally forgotten to switch it on.
