      Still the pedals look a bit different on the outer ring, so I'm not really sure.

      1. The petals or single florets to be more precise can be different depending on the variety. You should rather compare the leaves.

        1. Good point, and this Tagetes Erecta species looks like a pretty solid match to me. Will identify it as such, anybody is of course free to challenge it later. Posted 9 years ago

"Tagetes erecta", the Mexican marigold, also called Aztec marigold, is a species of the genus "Tagetes" native to Mexico and Central America. Despite its being native to the Americas, it is often called African marigold. In Mexico, this plant is found in the wild in the states of San Luis Potosí, Chiapas, State of México, Puebla, Sinaloa, Tlaxcala, and Veracruz.
