
Bornean Stork-Billed Kingfisher
Very large kingfisher, measuring 35 to 38 cm in length. The bornean adult has blue back, wings and tail, and creamy tan head, underparts and neck. The very large bill and legs are bright red. The call is a cackling ke-ke-ke-ke-ke-ke. This one was found leeping during a night boat tour in the river Kinabatangan, area of Sukau, in Sabah.
The Stork-billed Kingfisher, is a tree kingfisher which is widely but sparsely distributed in the tropical Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia, from India and Sri Lanka to Indonesia. This kingfisher is essentially resident throughout its range.
