  3. Hi Wildflower i have an idea the ringer at Bramwell Station on Cape York told me it was a wild Almond Tree. There were several growing in the cattle yards on the station. He went on to say that when they were working in the yards with the cattle the Palm Cockies would be happily feeding on the almonds . Posted 9 years ago
    1. OK, it has many common names, it is a Terminalia species, possibly Terminalia catappa, although other species are found in Australia as well.

The Palm Cockatoo ", also known as the Goliath Cockatoo, is a large smoky-grey or black parrot of the cockatoo family. It is the only member of the subfamily Microglossinae and the only member of the monotypic genus, " Probosciger". Its unique position within the cockatoo family has been confirmed by molecular studies.
