Purple swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio melanotus)
Looking quite contented in a small swampy area at the edge of lake in public parkland.
A medium sized bird with red bill and electric blue breast, nech and head. Red eyes. Black outer on wings.
Long pale red legs with long toes but no webbing.

The Australasian swamphen is a species of swamphen occurring in eastern Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand. In New Zealand, it is known as the pukeko. The species used to be considered a subspecies of the purple swamphen.
