Western Fence Lizard No blue on the throat or belly indicate that this is likely either a female or juvenile. Fascinating little fact - the presence of these lizards can indicate that the area will have less Lyme disease. Their blood contains a substance that kills lyme bacteria. The ticks that feed on the lizards have their guts cleared of lyme bacteria so that they are no longer carriers.
