An ode to Rick Recently Ludo submitted a photo as an ode to Andrey, a great marine photographer. I think its a great idea to cherish our members. So hereby an ode to Rick Lieder. Rick is known for his unique style of telling great poetic stories of the world of birds and insects. Combined with a unique sense of timing you know a photo is by Rick the second you see it. <br />

I lack the storytelling, the timing and the post processing skills of Rick, but this photo was inspired by his work. Birds,Chaffinch,Fringilla coelebs,Garden Click/tap to enlarge

  3. HI Ferdy, great idea! :) You're next:)! And great shot, I only have a max 135 zoom, so I'm quite envious:) Posted 13 years ago, modified 13 years ago
  4. Nice idea to bring an ode to Rick, he really deserves it. Posted 13 years ago
    1. You deserve an ode too, Joost. Problem is, I don't have macro equipment (or skills). I'll bring my ode to you by trying to be as thorough in describing and geotagging photos like you, which definitely is your style :) Posted 13 years ago

The common chaffinch is a common and widespread small passerine bird in the finch family. The male is brightly coloured with a blue-grey cap and rust-red underparts. The female is much duller in colouring, but both sexes have two contrasting white wing bars and white sides to the tail.
