Yet another large scarab type which gets called 'Christmas beetle'
This one is about 22mm long and is in the Melolonthinae sub-family.
Found in southern Victoria and Tasmania.

The Emerald eucalyptus chafer

Xylonichus piliger is a large green chafer beetle found in south-eastern Australia. Distinctive for it's rich green colouring and dense white ventral setae. Found in Tasmania and southern Victoria it is often confused with Anoplognathus prasinus a species occurring mostly north of central Victoria
