Long-nosed Lycid Beetle (Porrostoma rhipidium)
This 20 mm beetle had bright brick red ridged elytra and darkly tinted hind wings. The abdomen was dorso-ventrally flattened and a glossy black. Antennae had serration along the inner side. The long rostrum is just visible.
I have never been able to get a shot with its wings open and in flight - so this was lucky opportunity for me !
Spotted on a tea-tree bush in a nature reserve.

Porrostoma rhipidium is a net winged beetle found in the eastern states of Australia. Usually near the coast it is commonly known as Long-nosed Lycid Beetle due to it's unusually elongated mouth parts (for the family)
