Papilio delalandei, Amber Mountain, Madagascar Taken with the long lens, so not a great shot. My theory is that this is a female Papilio mangoura:<br />

Papilio delalandei, Amber Mountain, Madagascar

Taken with the long lens, so not a great shot. My theory is that this is a female Papilio mangoura:

      However, I did not see it as a candidate due to my butterfly being deeply yellow, which does not match the reference photos I'm seeing for Papilio delalandei. Out of curiosity, why do you think it is a better match?

      1. The pattern of the wings matches exactly and the underside is indeed yellowish but that could sometimes be influenced depending on the light. It is not Papilio mangoura because one of the spots on the forewings is missing - the second one from the top and the stripe on the hindwings is narrower and doesn't have those dark patches along the edge.
