Elephant weevil (Orthorhinus cylindrirostris)
A large and lumpy weevil which has had it's long nose in an ink well.
About 25mm body length.
Clinging on to a small acacia stem in a local nature reserve.
A pest to the wine industry as it feeds on grape vines it obviously got it's name from the lengthy rostrum.
Also note tubercular pattern on elytra and tufts back of head.
