  1. I created a species record for Oedura monilis. However, I then realized that I think your gecko is instead Oedura tryoni, so I created a species record for that one also. They are very similar, and both occur where you found this one, but the spot pattern of your gecko seems to be a better match for O. tryoni. Posted 9 years ago
    1. I am pretty sure this one is a Oedura monilis as I was told by an expert on reptiles .. but I will asked another expert to ID it for me.. Thanks John... Posted 9 years ago
      1. It seems like the only significant visual difference is the number, distribution, and size of the spots. I'm basing my ID on the text from Wilson and Swan's field guide, but I wouldn't be greatly surprised if I were wrong. Posted 9 years ago

This robust gecko is brown, yellowish brown, or reddish brown, with many small prominent dark-edged pale spots over its body, limbs, and tail. It lives in woodlands and rocky outcrops, particularly granite or sandstone, sheltering in rock crevices, under slabs, and sometimes under bark.
