  1. Perhaps the reversed lens explains the F/1 value in EXIF? Either way, stunning photo, with perfect focus control. Posted 9 years ago
    1. Thanks for the comment!
Yes when a Nikon camera doesn't detect a lens (witch is when you reverse a lens) the EXIF shows F/1.

  2. Nice shot* Have you ever seen this Key for genera of Chrysidids? http://www.chrysis.net/database/key_en.html
Do have any more shots from another angle where its possible to see Anal Margin, Wing patterns, Front of the head? From this angle I would bet on Chrysis... but nothing more ;) This are one of the tricky insects species are almost impossible to identified by a single photo frame... In any other way, if you follow its colors, well, its a best guess, and nothing more. Here they have a forum where its possible to upload photos for ID: http://www.chrysis.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=8

With the D7100 you can programe it with the value of the analog lens you use. After that the highest f-value will appear on EXIF. I only use analog lenses too, and a D7100 also ;)

    Anyway, great capture! ;)
    Welcome to JD!
    Cheers*

    1. Hi thanks for the comment! I have more pictures of Chrysididae but not from this one. Mostly it is only one very lucky shot. I also would guess it is the Chrysis ignita but it is very difficult to be 100% sure. Will try the chrysis.net forum thanks for the advice.

      1. With only one perspective, at least, judging on a guess for the species, without being certain, it is more correct to refer it as Chrysis cf. ignita. Cheers* Posted 9 years ago
        1. Thanks! I changed the name until i know for sure. Posted 9 years ago
  3. Great shot! Are you using any extension tubes on your reverse lens set-up? Posted 6 years ago

"Chrysis ignita", also known as the ruby-tailed wasp, is a species of cuckoo wasp. Cuckoo wasps are kleptoparasites – they lay their eggs in the nests of other wasp species and their young consume the eggs or larva of the host wasp for sustenance.
