
Jewel beetle (Castiarina flavopicta)
This jewel beetle was a little more elusive than most.
As it was about half the size of most of the others it could bury itself into the flowers more easily.
Estimated 11mm long and the yellow loops were in two shades.
Found on Leptospermum scoparium in a local nature reserve.
