Delicate tree shells (Anthrocophyllum archeri) Almost a whole trunk of a small tree was covered in these delicate shells in various stages of development. <br />
The largest were about 16mm wide. Papery, fuzzy, pale tan caps with darker orange/tan. Open, simple gills below.<br />
In damp rain forest dominated by eucalyptus.<br />
Anthracophyllum is a genus with only ten members and mostly found in the tropical parts of the world. However this species is mostly found in the cooler parts of Australia. Anthracophyllum archeri is a fungus in the Anthracophyllum genus.
