Green grass psednura (Psednura pedestris)
A weird flat creature with very sneaky eyes. 35mm long. A seed-mimic pyrgomorph grasshopper mimics brown or green depending on season. Very alert and wouldn't allow me to approach closer than a couple of metres. Extremely hard to see in seedy grasses.
Found in long grasses under trees in a local nature reserve.
The genus only has 3 known species all in eastern Australia.
