  1. I am confused here, I don't know which is the right one. They look different here. The spot on the hindwing seems larger and I don't see the white dots.

On your reference I would have chosen 3059 Heteropsis strigula because it has the white dots, but here it is very different with 2 spots on the hindwing...

    1. Thanks, I'm definitely not sure about my guess, also the reference seems quite ancient to me. Not sure what to do. Posted 9 years ago
      1. There is a mistake in the description of this reference. 3059 is Culapa antsianakana which is a synonym for Heteropsis exocellata. Unfortunately, there are no other photos of this species to check if it is the right one.

        1. Ok thanks, does that mean that the current identification is likely wrong? Or do we lack information to be sure? Posted 9 years ago
          1. Yes to both questions. Heteropsis pauper has a larger eyespot on the hindwing. Heteropsis exocellata (3059) looks more likely to me because of the white dots but there is no other reference to confirm it. Posted 9 years ago, modified 9 years ago
            1. Thank you, removed the identification for now. Posted 9 years ago
