Scarce Tortoiseshell, Lieksa Finland

This species (Nymphalis xanthomelas) has been very rare in Finland until recent years. It's not common yet but still possible to see nowadays if you're lucky enough.

They really are quite similar in appearance and they both occur in the south of Finland but are rare. I think polychloros is even rarer than this one. I don't know if it's ever been found here in the east. Thanks again for your great feedback! Posted 7 years ago
